In the process, she’s found herself morphing into an unlikely spokeswoman for her native cuisine, which is having its moment in the sun as Korean culture gains prominence on the world stage, in part as a result of K-Pop music. Ha, the author (or artist) behind “Cook Korean: A Comic Book With Recipes” is part of a wave of artists reinventing the staid cookbook format, replacing dull lists of ingredients and staged photography with whimsical drawings and character-laced storylines. Her new profession has brought her to Atlanta twice in the last two months, first to the Decatur Book Festival and most recently to the Cooking School at Irwin Street for a demonstration organized by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta. Robin Ha makes her living as an cartoonist, illustrator and freelance textile designer, but a hobby that emerged when reconnecting with her Korean heritage has taken her on a tasty turn.
